Eata ("Eata", "we", "us") provides restaurant technology to businesses in Australia. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. It covers this website, enquiries you make through it, and our staff apps for restaurants: Eata Store Manager and Eata Orders Manager. Restaurants using the Eata platform have their own privacy policies for their customers.

- To send you information about Eata products you asked about.
- To improve this website and our services.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
Third-party services
Enquiries are delivered to us by email through a transactional email provider. Our website is hosted on cloud infrastructure and delivered through a content delivery network. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security commitments and may store data outside Australia.
Eata Store Manager app
Eata Store Manager is an Android app for owners and managers of restaurants that use Eata. There is no public sign-up. The restaurant creates each staff account. The app collects:
- Your account details: name, email address, role and branch. We use them to sign you in and show you your restaurant. Your password is stored on our servers only in hashed form, and the app keeps your sign-in in secure storage on your device.
- Photos you take or choose for the menu. They are stored with our image hosting provider and shown on the restaurant's menu.
- Crash reports and performance data, such as device model, operating system and app version. They go to our error monitoring provider so we can fix problems, and they do not include your name or email address.
The app also shows your restaurant's orders and customer details, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses and delivery addresses. We handle this information on behalf of the restaurant, only to run its orders. Customers should contact the restaurant about their information.
The app has no ads and no tracking. Data is sent over encrypted connections. Our servers, image hosting and error monitoring providers may store data outside Australia, including in Singapore and the United States. To have your staff account removed, ask your restaurant's manager or contact us using the details below.
Eata Orders Manager app
Eata Orders Manager is an Android app for restaurant kitchens and counters that use Eata. It shows incoming orders, lets staff accept and update them, and prints order dockets. There is no public sign-up. The restaurant creates each staff account. The app collects:
- Your account details: name, email address, role and branch. We use them to sign you in and show you your restaurant's orders. Your password is stored on our servers only in hashed form, and the app keeps your sign-in in secure storage on your device.
- Order updates you make, such as accepting an order, the preparation time you set and marking it ready.
The app shows and prints the details customers give with their orders, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses and delivery addresses. We handle this information on behalf of the restaurant, only to prepare and deliver its orders. Customers should contact the restaurant about their information.
The app uses Bluetooth and the local network only to find and connect to the restaurant's printers. It does not collect your location. It has no ads and no tracking. Data is sent over encrypted connections, and our servers may store data outside Australia, including in Singapore. To have your staff account removed, ask your restaurant's manager or contact us using the details below.
Data storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Data retention and deletion
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to follow up and for a reasonable period afterwards. You can ask us to update or delete your details at any time using the contact details below.
Access and correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are unhappy with how we handle a complaint you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
