Eata POS connects to your bank's EFTPOS terminal through Linkly Cloud. Once paired, the till sends the sale amount to the terminal, the customer pays on the terminal, and the till prints the receipt. Card details stay on the terminal and never pass through Eata.
You pair each terminal once. It takes about ten minutes.
Before you start
- A Linkly Cloud enabled EFTPOS terminal from your bank, switched on and connected to the internet. If you are not sure your terminal supports Linkly Cloud, ask your bank.
- The Linkly Cloud username and password for that terminal. Your bank sets up the Linkly Cloud account and gives you these. If you cannot find them, call your bank's merchant helpdesk.
- One username and password per terminal. Two terminals cannot share a login.
- An Eata admin account with owner access (Tenant Admin) for admin.eata.au.
Step 1: Add the terminal in Eata admin
- Sign in to Eata admin and open Branches.
- On the branch the terminal belongs to, find POS card payments and click Manage.
- Under Linkly terminals, click Add terminal.
- Give it a name you will recognise, such as Counter 1.
- For Account type, choose Live (account from your bank).
- Enter the Linkly Cloud username and password, then click Add.
The pairing window opens next. Keep it open for Step 3.
Step 2: Get the pair code from the terminal
- On the EFTPOS terminal, press FUNC.
- Enter 8880 and press ENTER.
- If the terminal asks whether to reset pairing, choose Yes.
- The terminal shows a pair code.
Each pair code works once and expires after a short time. If it expires, repeat this step for a new code.
Step 3: Pair
- Type the pair code into the Pair code box in Eata admin.
- Click Pair.
- The terminal now shows as Paired, with the date and time.
If you closed the pairing window, click Pair next to the terminal in the Linkly terminals list.
Step 4: Switch the branch to the bank terminal
- In the same Card payments window, set POS card payments to Bank terminal (Linkly). This option unlocks once a terminal is paired.
- Close and reopen the Eata POS app on every till at that branch. Tills read this setting when the app starts.
Step 5: Run a test sale
- On the till, add a low-priced item and tap Charge.
- Tap Card.
- The till shows what the terminal is asking for. The customer taps or inserts their card on the terminal.
- When the sale is approved, the till prints the customer receipt.
To give the money back, open the order on the till and tap Refund. The Refund button shows only when the till is signed in as a manager or above.
Troubleshooting
- Pairing failed. The pair code expired or was already used. Get a new code from the terminal and try again. If it still fails, the username or password may be wrong. Remove the terminal and add it again with the correct details.
- Bank terminal (Linkly) cannot be selected. No terminal is paired yet. Finish Step 3 first.
- The till still takes card the old way. Close and reopen the POS app on that till.
- The bank replaced or reset the terminal. Click Pair next to the terminal and enter a new pair code.
- The Linkly Cloud password was changed. The pairing stops working. Remove the terminal, add it again with the new password, then pair it with a new pair code.
- Power cut or app closed during a card sale. When the till opens again it checks the last card sale with the terminal, shows the result and prints a recovery receipt. Do not charge the customer again until you have seen that result.
- Removing a terminal. If it is the only terminal at the branch, set POS card payments back to another option first, so the tills are not left without a card method.
